It may be a pretzel or a doughnut that you’ll might prefer, but nothing beats the Indian Jalebi. No other sweet can be this simple and utterly delicious at the same time. Dough is poured in circles and fried till it becomes golden brown, it is then dipped in sugar syrup and you have the complicated shaped jalebi. The jalebi experience is unique. Though crisp and sticky on the outside, it is warm and juicy on the inside. There are many ways to understad the making of the jalebis. Plus they have a role to play in sarcasm according to the phrase which goes like “Ye to jalebi ki tarah seedha hai”.
Mumbai has some mouthwatering places to offer its people, with some scrumptious jalebi centres in the town.
JJ Jalebiwala, Mohammad Ali Road:
Camouflaged by the busy lanes of Mohammad Ali road, this place is worth a visit. Though the jalebi here is brown in colour unlike the common golden one, it is a rare find and filled with mawa. This place is quite known for its celebrity status as many stars drop by in the holy month of ramzan.
Mumbadevi Jalebiwala, Zaveri Bazar:
Positioned in the perpetually reverberating streets of Zaveri Bazar, this place is a must for all jalebi lovers. It is one of the oldest shops in Mumbai, still serving customers with the same crispy kesar jalebi. A mouthwatering one !
Located in the heart of the city near the famous Mangaldas market, this centre holds a special place for its farsaan and jalebis. The delicacy just lingers on your palate moments after you’ve had it.
